I am in Busia County what are some the GMO crops that are found around?
Insect resistant cotton (Bt cotton) is the GMO crop being commercially grown in Busia County, western Kenya. The cassava brown streak disease (CBSD) resistant cassava is under national performance trial (NPT) in KALRO Alupe. NPT is the last phase in research before the crop is granted commercial production approval. If granted, the crop will be the first GM cassava in the world.
