How can GM food be a solution to food insecurity in our country? And is it long term solution.
Genetic modification (GM) is one of the tools of crops and animals improvement, where specific traits (characteristics) such as insect resistance and viral diseases resistance are passed on to important food security crops. GM foods are just one of the many tools of crop improvement for resilience, that has advantages such as fast delivery of improved crops, and interspecific crossing of important traits. Crops improved through any technology need stewardship to overcome resistance build up.
