Am much concerned about Bt Maize. How far has it gone in National field trial? There’s alot of global warming and am afraid the maize we have will not beat the heat.
Bt maize is insect resistant maize developed through genetic modification. In Kenya, the maize has gone to the point of commercial approval by the National Biosafety Authority (NBA). Also, as required, the National Variety Release Committee has identified three varieties following National Performance Trials, which will hopefully be released to farmers. These varieties may also have some drought tolerance levels. Note: Drought tolerance is not equal to heat tolerance.
